In spring 2013, CSE took delivery of a 24-ft TuffBoat built in Seattle (WA). Equipped with twin Honda 115 hp engines, the RV Southern Echo provides a sturdy, safe platform for conducting hydrographic surveys in shallow water over inlet deltas and in the surf zone. In just the first year, CSE’s field team has run ~1,000 track miles of hydro data from the Carolinas to New York. The vessel’s fully enclosed cabin allows year-round work and with less crew fatigue. Among the jobs this year were annual beach profile surveys for the state of South Carolina and offshore coring for sand searches.
