Take your surveying career from the woods or highway to the coast!

Summary

Coastal Science & Engineering Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team and help us solve the problems of the coastal zone. The mainstay of our practice is beach restoration, drawing on decades of experience in evaluating coastal erosion in a wide range of settings. We determine the principal erosion factors at a site and then design solutions that work with nature—doing this with scientific integrity, responsiveness, and dedication to clients’ needs.

CSE has completed over 50 beach restoration projects involving over 75 miles of shoreline and over 40 million cubic yards of sand. These projects have helped protect property worth over $10 billion. Our projects at Isle of Palms (SC), Nags Head (NC), and Folly Beach County Park (SC) have received ASBPA’s Best Restored Beach Award. Nags Head was the largest locally funded nourishment project ever constructed in the US at 4.6 million cubic yards and received an ACEC National Engineering Excellence Award in 2013. CSE’s innovative relocation of Captain Sams Inlet (SC) was recognized by the National Academy of Sciences as “both environmentally sensitive and cost-effective, indicating the benefits of combining fundamental research on coastal processes with coastal engineering practices.”
