Jumby Bay Island
Providing strategic coastal engineering leadership that stabilized shorelines, enhanced beaches, and unlocked sustainable harbor and resort development for Jumby Bay Island Company.
At a Glance
Since 1999, CSE has partnered with Jumby Bay Island Company to solve harbor and beach erosion challenges. Through high-resolution surveys, wave and sediment analysis, and forward-thinking design, CSE delivered practical nourishment and structural solutions aligned with the resort's vision—supporting sustainable harbor expansion, residential growth, and long-term shoreline resilience.
Stabilizing Beaches Around a Developed Harbor
Jumby Bay Island confronted persistent shoreline erosion around its harbor and beaches, compounded by legacy structures that underperformed or were poorly placed. Any solution had to protect sand, maintain navigation, preserve resort aesthetics, and safeguard a nearby coral reef. With limited site data and uncertainty in waves, tides, and sediment movement, delivering a reliable long-term coastal strategy required a smarter, more precise approach.
Modern Coastal Analysis for Complex Island Environments
CSE deployed a full suite of advanced coastal investigations—shoreline surveys, wave and tide monitoring, and sediment transport analysis—to decode how the harbor and beaches truly function. High-resolution UAV imagery and survey-grade RTK-GPS control powered smart, site-specific concepts for nourishment and coastal structures. Every recommendation prioritized buildability, reliable sand sourcing, and long-term shoreline performance to strengthen harbor and resort resilience.
Enabling Resilient Shorelines and Informed Coastal Development
Long-term, data-driven coastal engineering delivered the insight Jumby Bay Island Company needed to move forward with confidence. Consistent survey control, trusted wave and tide data, and proven design concepts sharpened decisions for harbor expansion and residential growth. The result is a shoreline strategy built for resilience today—and ready for sea level rise tomorrow.
"Persistent erosional hotspots associated with periodic storm impacts and wave focusing around nearshore reefs require localized expertise and planning to design and implement erosion control structures."
