Designing Within a Constrained Coastal Setting
Hopkins Bay Resort sits on a slender sand spit squeezed between the Caribbean Sea, Freshwater Creek, and expansive mangrove wetlands. Expanding beaches and marina amenities demanded careful control of tidal flow and inlet stability without disturbing sensitive ecosystems. With limited baseline data on tides, flows, and topography, unlocking a buildable, long-term coastal solution required precise investigation and smart planning.
Field Investigations Shape Smart Resort Design
Precision fieldwork, including RTK-GPS mapping, beach and nearshore profiling, and tide and flow monitoring, established strong design control. The data-informed evaluations of beach expansion, marina and pier concepts, inlet stabilization, and drainage improvements are tailored to environmental constraints. Preliminary engineering and feasibility analysis translated field insight into buildable, sustainable coastal solutions ready for implementation.
Expanding Complex Resort Shorelines Responsibly
Deep field investigations and data-driven analysis laid a confident foundation for expanding beaches, marinas, piers, and inlet facilities at Hopkins Bay Resort. The approach aligned ambitious resort goals with the protection of wetlands, mangroves, and natural tidal dynamics. By surfacing drainage issues early and delivering buildable solutions, the project cut risk and set the stage for long-term coastal sustainability.
